Looking Back at Virgil Abloh and Nike's Highlights Ahead of Off-White x Nike AJ4 "Sail"

In celebration of the upcoming Off-White™ x Wmns Nike Air Jordan 4 “Sail”, GOAT is highlighting its favorite sneakers designed by Virgil Abloh. Starting in 2017, the Chicago-bred founder of streetwear giant Off-White™, has honed in on deconstructed takes of some of his favorite silhouettes from the Swoosh line that showcases inventive, playful and influential designs. Originally previewed as a sample at Abloh’s “Figures of Speech” exhibit at MCA Chicago, this “Sail” colorway arrives in the signature deconstructed build with familiar details including “AIR” branding printed on the midsole, along with a cream zip-tie and hangtag. Off-White™ x Nike Jordan 1 “UNC”

The “UNC” colorway is said to be the most available of all the AJ1s designed by Virgil Abloh, with the Chicago’s being second and the EU-exclusive triple white versions holding the top rank for most limited. The UNC-inspired edition shares “Powder Blue” on its deconstructed overlay with white underlays. “AIR” returns to the midsole with further industrial branding found on each medial side. Signature Off-White™ nods return through its red zip-tie, shifted logos and unfinished look.
Off-White™ x Nike AF1 “Volt”

The Off-White™ x Nike AF1 “Volt” features TPE yarn uppers held together with taped seams and accented by suede hits at the heel and eyestays. Additional decoration on the uppers include contrasting Swooshes, stitched orange tabs, and baby blue zip ties. Finishing up the design are Nike Sportswear tags on the tongue and the word “AIR” emblazoned on the midsole.

Another Virgil Abloh-guided reinterpretation of the vintage court model, the “All Hallow’s Eve” Nike Blazer collaboration features a multi-material upper with translucent Flymesh paneling. Coming in “University Gold,” “Pine Green” and “University Red,” Virgil Abloh‘s take on the low-cut sneaker feature bold two-tone color schemes constructed of premium leather. Additional decorative detailing includes white zip-tie tags, orange tabs and “SHOELACES” printed laces.

The “All-Black” Off-White™ x Nike Presto featured tonal midfoot cages and matching Air Presto midsoles. This colorway continued Abloh’s deconstructed aesthetic with unfinished stitching, industrial branding on each side and Off-White‘s signature red zip-tie. Contrasting white accents offer familiar Abloh cues, including “AIR” printed on the velcro strap on the heel and a larger Swoosh placed near the mid front of the shoe.
