As the world continues to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic, UNIQLO has now introduced its AIRism Masks. Initially reluctant to produce personal protective equipment, the Japanese fashion purveyor noted a high influx of customer requests for masks.

Part of its “LifeWear” line, the masks utilize a patent-pending three-layer AIRism structure with an exterior with UV protection qualities that black 90 percent of ultraviolet rays. Behind that layer is a high-performance filter with 99 percent (BFE) Bacterial Filtration Efficiency. The filter blocks water droplets, bacteria particles, virus particles and pollen. The interior is a non-woven fabric of cotton that wicks away sweat to remain cool increasing the wearing comfort of the mask.

Available in three packs, the AIRism Masks can be washed in the washing machine with detergent and remains effective up to 20 washes. Producing 500,000 masks every week in Small (children), Medium and Large, UNIQLO will be limiting one pack of each size per person.

Priced at ¥990 JPY (approximately $9 USD), the UNIQLO AIRism Mask is set to release at UNIQLO Japan June 19 and stay tuned for a wider release.

In case you missed it, BAPE recently announced an upcoming COMME des GARÇONS collaboration.
