Back for Spring/Summer 2020, Los Angeles-based label, Siberia Hills, has returned with its latest seasonal range inspired by the wonder tied to nature. Titled “Animal Kingdom,” the collection is a salute to the multicellular eukaryotic organisms that form the biological kingdom Animalia.

For SS20, Siberia Hills explored multiple themes tied to “Animal Kingdom,” from the idea of a fictional animal sanctuary tucked away in the Siberia Hills, our relationship with animals, animalistic urges of lust and the ecosystem we live within.

The evocative spotlight of the collection sees the label move past photos to create dynamic imagers that trigger viewers to directly imagine a story. Shot by Brandon Bown with mixed media edits by Anton Reva and Nikita Reva, the colors of the artwork form an amalgamation of a psychedelic palette that complements the tie-dyes and whites and blues found throughout the collection that serves as a salute to the Earth.

Integral pieces in the “Animal Kingdom” range include the Ohm Jeans, which features the sound of the universe in a connection of spirituality and the animal mind. Heavy stone washing provides a distinct look and feel inline with a perfect vintage jean. The Africa Knit is a beautiful cashmere/cotton drop-shoulder crewneck emblazoned with an acid trip distorted image of wildcats sitting in the jungle.

Other standouts include slightly oversized hoodies marked by unique wash treatments and Japanese slub cotton shirts that provide a premium feel. References on the staple items span from the psychedelia of Woodstock to the ideology shared by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, to the plant-based veganism animal friendliness and animalistic cults.

Touching on recent events, Siberia Hills has put together two separate charity hoodies in support of the #BlackLivesMatter movement and references the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The Animal Kingdom Scene Hoodie builds on the theme of the SS20 collection depicting all life living harmoniously together with proceeds going to the Search NAACP Legal Defense Fund and Black Lives Matter. While the Don’t Eat Your Friends Batwing Hoodie features an array of animal illustrations with proceeds going to WildAid, a cause bringing an end to illegal virus-breeding ground wet markets and saving animals alike.
