Opening Ceremony Places Plaid Patterns on the Reebok Instapump Fury
OC’s stores may have shuttered, but its collaborative product is rolling right along.
Opening Ceremony may have shut its physical doors for good earlier this year, but it’s continuing along unimpeded on the collaborative front by working with Reebok to craft two plaid-patterned takes on the Instapump Fury. Arriving in a Blackwatch-style mix of dark green and navy plus a bright black and yellow, both styles mix materials, prints and embellishments to bold and vivid effect, making for a look that’s not dissimilar to OC’s popular plaid bags and accessories.
Although the colors of the plaids are decidedly divergent, they’re presented in a similar fashion. The Instapump Fury’s cut-out upper is split into two main pieces: the base, which is constructed of textiles, and the midfoot cage, made of a glossy patent leather-like material. This contrast in gloss is played up further by the application of the plaid patterns — pink, red or white lines are straight on the base and askew on the midfoot cage.
Both pairs use a black heel piece and toe bumper, with “Opening Ceremony EST. 2002” debossed in white on the rear. Pump fit systems are kept entirely matte black on the tongue. Finally, two-piece white foam midsoles are separated by a carbon fiber plate, and pack DMX technology into the heel to offer exemplary comfort.
The Opening Ceremony x Reebok Instapump Fury collection will release on the Reebok webstore July 1. Each pair is priced at $170 USD.
