IKEA U.S. Launches STORSTOMMA Rainbow Lunch Bag in Support of LGBTQ+ Community
Donations will benefit the homeless LGBTQ+ community.
Last month, IKEA unveiled the rainbow covered take on its iconic FRAKTA bag, and now the Swedish imprint has announced that its U.S. operations will be selling a rainbow STORSTOMMA lunch bag.
The lunch bag adopts the same Pride Month-celebrating LGBTQ+ rainbow flag design as seen on the larger STORSTOMMA offering, and is complete with a set of yellow handles and a small touch of IKEA branding on the side.
30 percent of the retail price of the lunch bag will be donated to New York City‘s Ali Forney Center and the Los Angeles LGBT Center — up to $50,000 USD per charity — until August 31, 2020. Rafael Fantauzzi, country equality, diversity and inclusion officer at IKEA U.S. said:
“At a challenging time when much of the country and the world must self-isolate, it is important to recognize the meaning of the word ‘home.’ Unfortunately, for many LGBTQ+ individuals facing discrimination, stigmatization and isolation, the four walls of a house are not always a ‘safe space.’ That’s why we’re committed to creating a more loving, accepting world – because everyone deserves to feel at home, every day, everywhere.”
In addition to the lunch bag sales, IKEA U.S. has committed $25,000 USD to each organization in support of providing affordable housing solutions, shelter, and support services for the homeless LGBTQ+ community.
The IKEA STORSTOMMA rainbow lunch bag retails for $0.99 USD, while the large STORSTOMMA bag is priced at $2.99 USD. Take a look at both above, and pick them up from IKEA stores or on the IKEA U.S. website now.
