Bikkuri Man, is a Japanese chocolate wafer snack that was extremely popular back in the late ’70s and ’80s, with a loyal fan base to this day. Aside from the food element, the snack features a “surprise” (“Bikkuri” in Japanese), which is a character sticker often decorated in color print or foil. For collectors and children, the thrill of collecting all of the seals included in sets is part of the fun of Bikkuri Man.
This month, Japanese convenience stores will receive special “Rebuild of Evangelion: Introduction &: Break” and “Rebuild of Evangelion: Q” Bikkuri Man packages centered around Hideaki Anno’s popular manga/anime series. The “Rebuild of Evangelion: Introduction &: Break” set will feature covers that features Shinji Ikari/Eva Unit-01 and Rei Ayanami/Eva Unit-00, while “Rebuild of Evangelion: Q” set will feature Asuka Langley Soryu/Eva Unit-02 and Kaworu Nagisa/Eva Unit-13. The collaboration features 24 character stickers with Shinji, Asuka, Shinji/Super Zeus and Asuka/Jyujika Tenshi serving as the rarest seals of the release.
The “Rebuild of Evangelion: Introduction &: Break” and “Rebuild of Evangelion: Q” Bikkuri Man packages are set to release throughout Japan June 23.
