Exploring the largely mysterious life of the Hollywood star.
Danny Trejo has taken to social media to share the first trailer of the upcoming documentary about his own life and his rise to stardom.
Directed by award-winning director Brett Harvey for Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, Inmate #1: The Rise of Danny Trejo chronicles the life of the famous Hollywood star, who came from a troubled background and earned his way up onto the silver screen. Rising to fame thanks to filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, who cast him in iconic films such as Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn, Spy Kids, and Machete, Trejo was originally born in Mexico and raised in Los Angeles, where he unfortunately fell into an addiction to heroin. Through his earlier years, the actor would spend numerous periods of his life in prison and young offender’s institutions due to his participation in criminal activity. Eventually, realizing his passion for acting, Trejo managed to get sober, and would go on to star in more than 400 movies and TV shows, all the time donating part of his earnings as a way to give back to the communities he grew up in.
For fans of the brilliant actor, Inmate #1: The Rise of Danny Trejo will be available for digital download June 22.
