Mechatronik Teases 1970/80 Mercedes-Benz SL "Project 107" Restomod
Giving the classic a new lease of life.
German restomodder Mechatronik has unveiled the “Project 107,” its contemporary take on the classic Mercedes-Benz SL from the 1970s and ’80s.
This R/C107-generation Merc‘ is going to be treated by Mechatronik’s New-Tech division, which gives classics such as this a new lease of life with interior and exterior updates, as well as a host of mechanical and engine updates bringing the car into the 21st century. For now, Mechatronik has only supplied a set of prototype images that disguise the car, leaving a lot to the imagination.
As TopGear reports, we could expect the “Project 107” to be fitted with one of Mechatronik’s favorite go-to engines, such as a 5.5-liter AMG V8 or a 4.3-liter V8. Mechatronik is promising a lot with the new model, saying that it “came to the conclusion to raise the bar” and that “the next level is just around the corner.”
