H. Moser & Cie Brings Its April Fool's Vantablack Venturer Watch to Life
Miniature black holes on the wrist.

H.Moser & Cie‘s latest timepiece is one to remember. Constantly finding inventive and fun ways to bring traditional watchmaking to the surface, H. Moser watches are often highly decorated in detail with background stories to match. Its latest creation does not disappoint. What started off as an April Fool’s joke last year has come full circle. In a very “we did it because we can” manner, much like its previous no-hands $350k USD Swiss Alp Minute Repeater Concept, these two new watches go the black dial route, except this time, they go Vantablack — the darkest of blacks.
Blocking out 99.965% of light, the watches look like miniature black holes on the wrist, except when tilted at certain angles. Much like the brand, time is kept personal and only the one wearing the watch can truly witness the emotion from such a seemingly simple facade. The Vantablack dial and hands make its way into three signature models: a 39mm Venturer, an XL 43mm Venturer, and an Endeavour Tourbillon.
The Venturer models feature indices-free dials with minimal branding sans the “M” logo on the crown, a hand-wound HMC 327 Manufacture calibre movement that packs three days of power, hand-finishing and decoration on the movement and components, and Moser teeth, balance and original Straumann hairspring. The Endeavour Tourbillon (limited to 50 pieces) sees a HMC 804 automatic Manufacture calibre, oscillating weight in 18-carat red gold with an engraved H. Moser & Cie. logo, an original double hairspring, and a one-minute flying tourbillon at the 6 o’clock position with skeletonized bridges in black PVD.
This batch of watches is the first few to be offered on H. Moser & Cie’s online store in an effort to make their watches more accessible to collectors due to the recent closure of retailers. Pricing comes in at $26,600 USD for the XL, $27,600 USD for the 39mm (white gold), and $69,000 USD for the Endeavour Tourbillon.
