Patek Philippe Grants Authorized Dealers Ability to Sell Online
A rare and temporary opportunity to shop the coveted timepieces from the comfort of your home.
No industry is safe from coronavirus. As many luxury watch companies closing their facilities to keep craftspeople safe, these unprecedented times call for unprecedented measures: the ultra-exclusive Patek Philippe SA has granted its authorized retailers the rare opportunity to sell its timepieces online, as WatchPro reports.
Though there are some limitations — select models, like Patek Philippe’s steel Nautilus and Aquanaut watches, aren’t available online at all — the loosening of regulations has allowed previously-unheard-of access to Patek’s lavish timepieces, including the top-shelf Gondolo and Twenty-4 models. Furthermore, Patek Philippe’s website is not offering any timepieces for sale, but a variety of global retailers have instituted the new digital-friendly practice.
The move was made for the benefit of Patek’s authorized dealers, rather than the watch company itself, as Patek Philippe explained in a statement to Professional Watches: “During this extremely difficult time, an exceptional decision has been taken to allow authorized retailers to sell Patek Philippe watches online that they have in stock, while their showrooms are closed. This is only for a temporary period to help Patek Philippe authorized retailers that are closed due to the Covid-19 situation.”
Visit the websites of authorized dealers like London Jewelers, Watches of Switzerland and Hamilton Jewelers to enjoy the very unusual experience of shopping for Patek Philippe watches online.
