Clairo Shares Soothing Cover of Anna Domino's "Everyday, I don't"
A melancholic take on the art-pop singer’s 1984 track.
After dropping her debut album Immunity last year, Clairo has shared a cover of American art-pop singer Anna Domino’s 1984 track “Everyday, I don’t.” Recorded last year while she was making the studio album, the song sees the singer-songwriter’s voice dropped to gentle, murmuring vocals over steady guitar melodies. “Every day, I say that I won’t, and I don’t,” she croons.
The song comes from Domino’s debut album East And West on Belgian label Crépuscule. Departing from the original song’s upbeat drum pattern, the cover brings a melancholic and subdued tone to the nostalgic track. Over resounding instrumentals and a heavy bass, Clairo brings her listeners back to her early SoundCloud days. “Could you erase that look on your face, in my place, in my place…” Clairo sings. “12:44, there’s a knock on my door, you want more.”
