Rising artist Clairo has dropped off her debut studio album, Immunity. The bedroom-pop poster child offers 11 diverse tracks produced by former Vampire Weekend multi-instrumentalist Rostam Batmanglij, ranging from the piano-based opener “Alewife,” to the auto-tuned cut “Closer To You” and the lo-fi pop ensemble “Sofia.” Despite the variety of genre options, however, Clairo’s honest sense of lyricism remains a strong force in the 40-minute record. Her reflective yet humanistic inputs about friendship, love, depression and identity creates the album’s cornerstone and, at the same time, provides her a link with an audience undergoing the same difficulties. Clairo is young, and as she embarks on what seems like a long journey into music, her authenticity and exploration of sound will always keep fans on the edge of their seats.
