Shabazz Palaces Embrace Electro-Funk On New Single "Chocolate Souffle"
Sharing a glitched-out visual for the track.
Experimental hip-hop duo Shabazz Palaces has returned with another music video in preparation for the release of their new studio album, The Don of Diamond Dreams. Releasing a new single titled “Chocolate Souffle” alongside an accompanying visual, MC Ishmael Butler and multi-instrumentalist Tendai Maraire continue to showcase their unearthly style.
The track retains the duo’s electro-funk leanings, with Maraire laying down some extraterrestrial synth work that echoes throughout the track’s backdrop. In the David Shields and James Nugent-directed visual, Butler can be seen recording himself on his phone’s camera, which has been placed alongside heavily glitched edits that retain Shabazz Palaces’ signature psychedelic aesthetic.
You can watch the visual for “Chocolate Souffle” above. The Don of Diamond Dreams arrives on April 17 via Sub Pop.
