Last month, Raf Simons and Dr. Martens teamed up for a punk-inspired take on the rugged 1460 boots. The two labels have reunited for a smilar spin on a pair of 1461 derbys, giving the classic silhouette an irreverent refresh.
Like the previous release, the shoe is embellished with a bevy of rings throughout the body. This time, however, instead of a shiny silver tone, the rings have been glossed in matte black. Single-stitch seams trace the edges of the collars, backstay and tongue, followed by round tonal laces at the central upper quarter. Placed half-way down along the uppers are a row of horizontally positioned rings, starting at the heel and following through to the sidewalls and throatline. “Dr. Martens x RAF SIMONS” branding is subtly debossed at the rear quarter, while the front of the derbys boasts a smooth rounded toe. The final piece to the shoe is a dark yellow semi-translucent midsole packed with the footwear company’s historic AirWair technology for optimal cushioning.
The Raf Simons x Dr. Martens 1461 Derbys are currently available at SSENSE’s website for $220 USD.
