Quibi Releases Trailer for Lena Waithe's Sneaker Culture Series 'You Ain't Got These'
“This is not a show about sneakers, this is a show about sneaker culture.”
Quibi has dropped a new trailer for You Ain’t Got These, a show about sneaker culture executive produced by Lena Waithe (Queen & Slim.) “People want to be seen, to feel significant, and the way to do that is to put on a pair of kicks everyone wants,” Waithe explains in the footage above.
Hasan Minhaj, one of the featured guests in the series, says that sneakers are one of the only economic goods that “united the richest of the rich with the poorest of the poor.” The series will delve into many facets of sneaker culture, including how footwear serves as an individual’s identity or even status symbol. It will also touch on how black culture helped birth sneaker culture in the first place. Other featured guests include Carmello Anthony, Questlove, Nas, Mike Epps, Minhaj, and Waithe herself.
The Quibi streaming service launches on April 6 and is now available for pre-order. You Ain’t Got These will arrive alongside the launch of the platform.
