Guapdad 4000 Debuts New Self-Produced Single, "Greedy"
“I feel angry and feel like doing me in the most American way.”
Guapdad 4000‘s come-up was one of 2019’s feel good stories: the champion of the “Scam Rap” movement displayed some serious charisma en route to his debut album, Dior Deposits where he was backed by some of the game’s most popular voices like Chance the Rapper, Denzel Curry and Tory Lanez while also getting an important co-sign from California legends like E-40, Mozzy and Snoop Dogg. The Oakland rapper publicly feuded with Drake over the NBA Finals but even in defeat, he still wins.
Today, Guapdad dropped “Greedy,” a new self-produced single that features an addicting, sinister instrumental crafted from an orchestral sample. It details the origin story of his scamming while sharing the mantra of his upcoming year. “Its a song to sum up my overall mood,” Guapdad told HYPEBEAST. “I feel hungry, I feel angry and feel like doing me in the most American way. This is my greedy year… Crazy thing is, I produced this song. All me. I’ve been producing the whole time by the way.”
Guapdad’s bars are almost reminiscent of nursery rhymes, just for scamming. “It all started with the sidekicks, you know the swipe flick/ I was snaggin’ them fools/ Upgraded to the iPods, cameras, tripods, I was grabbin’ them too/ On the train irritated ’cause my momma goin’ to jail, I’m mad as a mule.” His overall storytelling ability has progressed, and the news that he’s now self-producing major releases is a promising sign of things to come.
