Four Tet Explores New Sonic Spaces in 'Sixteen Oceans'
The IDM pioneer shares his 10th studio album.
Four Tet has dropped off his 10th studio album, Sixteen Oceans. Clocking in at just under one hour, the extensive 16-track record includes previous releases like “Teenage Birdsong,” “Baby” with Ellie Goulding and “4T Recordings.”
The rhythmic project sees a fully supportive sonic background that includes numerous wind instruments, synths and drum patterns that gradually fade to calming ambient sounds, creating a focused and meditative space for the listener. The IDM pioneer is evidently cautious of the album’s pacing, ensuring that listeners pick up on the little quirks hidden beneath the musical layers without losing concentration on the overall sound.
