Apple Won't Allow iPhones to be Used by the Bad Guys in Movies
Rian Johnson explains in a video about him and his movie ‘Knives Out.’
Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Knives Out director Rian Johnson revealed that Apple doesn’t allow bad guys in movies to use iPhones. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Johnson stated “Apple… they let you use iPhones in movies but — and this is very pivotal if you’re ever watching a mystery movie — bad guys cannot have iPhones on camera.”
He even jokingly said this information may very well ruin future mystery movies because it inadvertently reveals what characters may be good and bad. “Every single filmmaker that has a bad guy in their movie that’s supposed to be a secret wants to murder me right now,” he joked. This is especially important when watching Knives Out, where almost every character is suspected in the murder of a wealthy crime novelist named Harlan Thrombey.
According to MacRumors, the company previously stated that its products should only be used “in the best light, in a manner or context that reflects favorably on the Apple products and on Apple Inc.” A Wired article in 2002 even noted that the television show 24 had good guys using Macs and bad buys using Windows PC.
In other entertainment news, Disney CEO Bob Iger surprisingly stepped down from his role.
