As the English Premier League reaches its final weeks for the 2019/20 season, its official partner Nike will be wrapping up the year with the debut of a new Merlin match ball, dubbed the “Tunnel Vision.”
Equipped with the sports giant’s Aerowtrac technology, the new match ball manages to maintain accurate and consistent flight paths thanks to a steady flow of air along its surfaces no matter what speed it’s propelled at. As its name suggests, the ball is said to underscore “players’ ability to focus on one task while ignoring everything else,” represented by the flurry of disruptive graphics on its many panels paired with large and vibrant orange spheres. One of its panels is even blacked out with the image of the Premier League trophy emblazoned in white, reminding contestants to set their eyes on the prize.
For those who follow the EPL, Nike’s new “Tunnel Vision” Merlin match ball will debut during the Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur fixture on February 22 and will be available for purchase over on Nike’s online store starting February 17.
Elsewhere in sports, the NBA has renamed the All-Star MVP Award in honor of Kobe Bryant.
