maharishi Presents a Technical "2020VISION" From the '90s for SS20
Combining traditional designs with new fabrications and techniques.
maharishi is looking back to the future with its “2020VISION” for Spring/Summer 2020. Unveiling its collection in a lookbook, maharishi reflects on how the year 2020 was imagined back in the ’90s, bringing a combination of technically-indebted looks alongside various archetype maharishi designs.
To reflect its “2020VISION,” maharishi combines traditional Scajan-style embroideries with 3M outlining on a selection of artworks to create futuristic cybernetic samurais, alien geishas and cyborg dragons. Elsewhere, maharishi puts a focus on technical fabrics such as water-resistant mesh, recycled nylon, and eco-cupro twill made in Japan from recovered cotton waste, which are each colored with natural vegetable-dying techniques.
Notable pieces from its SS20 collection include a British Army-inspired long-line field jacket that’s served in a traditional “Aurora Olive” colorway, as well as a heavily-embroidered overshirt that’s finished with branding and the collection’s name. Other bold looks include a black mesh top, a tactical bag with chest straps, and a relaxed tracksuit look offered up in a “Pink Panther” hue, serving as another nod to the British Army’s Long Range Desert Group in the second world war.
