Mere hours after rumors emerged that he’d be joining Bad Bunny, J.Lo and Shakira during Super Bowl LIV‘s Halftime Show, J Balvin made a show-stealing announcement with the reveal of his debut Air Jordan 1 collaboration. The sneaker’s gleaming uppers are a perfect match for Balvin’s personal style, with plenty of thematic details further distinguishing the special silhouette.
A perfect complement to Balvin’s recent BAPE collaboration, the bespoke AJ1 silhouette is coated in unmissable color. An unmissable rainbow gradient appears on the shoe’s textured upper, stretching from heel to toe atop a white midsole. The first Latino artist to collaborate on the iconic silhouette, Balvin’s Air Jordan 1 also features raw-hemmed edges at nearly every seam. A jagged black outline bolsters the Swoosh, tying in with the heel panel, while more gentle scalloping curves around the black ankle opening. Balvin’s Happy Face logo is emblazoned towards the heel of each shoe and on the tongue of the left sneaker, reinforcing the collaborative ethos.
J Balvin will show off the shoes on-stage during the Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show, where he’ll join Jennifer Lopez to perform “Que Calor” and “Mi Gente.” In the meantime, take a closer look above.
A host of head-turning Air Jordan 1 models have surfaced recently, including CLOT’s red silk iteration and the disco ball-indebted “Flashing Lights” Mid.
