UPDATE (March 2, 2020): Aimé Leon Dore has delivered more details of its Spring/Summer 2020 New Balance collaboration, showcasing another 827 sneaker colorway and more garments. This new advertisement spotlights a bold white, navy and gold makeup of the running shoe, complete with a reddish-brown outsole. Styled alongside an Aimé Leon Dore parka and bespoke New Era cap, the imagery also showcases the forthcoming white and navy sweatsuits launching as part of the seasonal partnership.
Founder Teddy Santis also went ahead and showed off a much cleaner angle to the original colorway. See below.
ORIGINAL STORY (February 26, 2020): Aimé Leon Dore’s pristine Spring/Summer 2020 lookbook hid the model’s feet, suggesting that there may be some special footwear in the works for the warm weather season. Indeed, the New York-based brand has announced another edition of its ongoing New Balance partnership, encompassing both a collaborative 827 sneaker and apparel.
In line with its past NB collaborations, Aimé Leon Dore has elected to remix a retro running sneaker, selecting the niche 827 as its model of choice. Occasionally emerging on secondhand sites like Depop, the 827 is a weighty silhouette that boasts primarily pale colorways that offer bold pops of color for contrast. Aimé Leon Dore iteration upholds this mindset, with a mostly-white base contrasting against the blue accents and light gum outsole. An accompanying track suit is executed in oatmeal tones, complementing the forest green track pants also seen in the retro advertisement-inspired teaser.
Expect Aimé Leon Dore to deliver more teaser imagery next week, along with an eventual release date and detailed information.
New Balance has recently prepped a slate of elevated retro shoes, including a striking 991 Made in the UK and this year’s timeless 1300JP.
