mastermind JAPAN Gives Three Eastpak Bags a Punk-Inspired Makeover

mastermind JAPAN has given a selection of classic Eastpak bags a punk-inspired rework that captures the style and design of both labels for Fall/Winter 2020.

Eastpak — who recently linked with Vivienne Westwood for a five-piece capsule — originally released its classic backpack in 1976, a silhouette that’s remained unchanged since. For this collaboration though, it’s been given a luxurious monochrome suede makeover that’s contrasted with punk-inspired leather and a gunmetal chain.

Similarly, the traditional bum bag has been dipped into a dark suede and boasts silkscreen prints, an embroidered logo and leather and gunmetal detailing, while its heavy-duty webbing ensures belongings are kept safe.

Adding a versatile and durable travel solution to the mix, Eastpak’s popular Tranverz trolley in carry-on size undergoes the same transformation from mastermind JAPAN. The suede fabric is treated for extra durability and also includes gunmetal chain hardware, leather details, and mastermind JAPAN’s signature skull-and-crossbones print and embroidered logo. The Tranverz also features the functional details expected from Eastpak, such as a built-in TSA lock, an ultra-smooth wheeling system and heavy-duty hardware.

The mastermind JAPAN x Eastpak collaboration drops on December 11 and will be available via the Eastpak webstore.
