Shortly after creator/director Hideaki Anno announced that composition and editing has been completed on Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time, we now have a new teaser for the fourth and final film in the Rebuild of Evangelion tetralogy. Originally set to open in Japan June 27, the premiere of the highly-anticipated film was delayed due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Coming as the official release date creeps near, the latest promotional video previews the movie’s theme song performed by Utada Hikaru. Titled “One Last Kiss,” the title track follows the Japanese songstresses’ “Beautiful World” track for Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone, “Beautiful World (Planitb Acoustica Mix)” for Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance and “Sakura Nagashi” for Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo. “One Last Kiss” is an emotional cut that underlines the themes of the film and will lead the official soundtrack releasing January 27, 2021.

The new preview shares flashes of new and old characters revealing some of the varying emotions expressed throughout the film. While scenes of action unveil the new look of EVA units and a battle between EVA Unit 13 and EVA Unit 01 featuring both the Lance of Loginus and Spear of Cassius. Additionally, Studio Khara chief animation director Atsushi Nishigori also put together a new poster for Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time showing Shinji Ikari, Asuka Langley Soryu, Rei Ayanami, Mari Illustrious Makinami and Kaworu Nagisa at the beach in their civilian clothes.

Watch the new teaser above for Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time set to officially release January 23, 2021. For those that can’t wait catch the first 10 minutes of the final film released a few months back.
