'Black Mirror' Creators Announce Netflix Comedy Event 'Death to 2020'
The “cathartic” comedy special will star the likes of Samuel L. Jackson, Hugh Grant, Kumail Nanjiani and more.
Black Mirror creators Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones are offering their creative takes on 2020 — dubbed by many as the worst year in modern history — in the upcoming Netflix title, Death to 2020.
Billed as a “cathartic comedy event” and described by the streaming platform as “a landmark documentary-style special,” Death to 2020 will feature a star-studded cast comprised of Samuel L. Jackson, Hugh Grant, Lisa Kudrow, Kumail Nanjiani, Tracey Ullman, Samson Kayo, Leslie Jones, Diane Morgan, Stranger Things star Joe Keery and Black Mirror “USS Callister” alum Cristin Milioti.
“2020: A year so [insert adjective of choice here], even the creators of Black Mirror couldn’t make it up… but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a little something to add,” the official Netflix synopsis read. “Death to 2020 is a comedy event that tells the story of the dreadful year that was — and perhaps still is?”
In a recent interview, Grant revealed a little bit of info regarding his role. “It’s for Netflix, and I am a historian who’s being interviewed about the year. I’m pretty repellent, actually! And you’ll like my wig,” he said.
