Tesla, Lucid Motors, Uber and More Create Lobbying Group for Zero Emission Transportation
Hoping to make every vehicle sold in the U.S. electric by 2030.
A number of large players within the electric vehicle market have now come together to create a new lobbying group for the future of EVs, including Tesla, Uber, and Lucid Motors.
Named the Zero Emission Transportation Association (ZETA), its main target is for all vehicles sold in the U.S. to be fully electric by the year 2030. Along with the announcement of its formation, ZETA has proposed five policies to help achieve this goal: to provide consumer incentives when purchasing EVs such as tax deductions, to create clearer and more concrete emissions standards and goals, to bring in more federal investment for infrastructure such as charging stations, to create more jobs through supporting domestic manufacturing, and to increase federal support for research and development.
“For the first time in a generation, transportation is the leading emitter of U.S. carbon emissions. By embracing EVs, federal policymakers can help drive innovation, create hundreds of thousands of new jobs and improve air quality and public health,” ZETA’s executive director Joe Britton said in a statement. “ZETA’s formation recognizes a pivotal moment for national leadership and reflects the will of the growing clean transportation sector.”
Elsewhere in the automotive world, NOVITEC has pushed the McLaren 620R to 711 horsepower.
