Mads Mikkelsen Is Replacing Johnny Depp As Grindelwald in 'Fantastic Beasts 3'

Johnny Depp‘s Gellert Grindelwald replacement for Fantastic Beasts 3 has just been confirmed. While it was rumored just weeks ago after Warner Bros. asked Depp to step down, an official statement has surfaced confirming of Mikkelsen’s casting — supporting his recent update to fans that he was just “waiting for the phone call” to make it official.
The Death Stranding/Casino Royale actor now joins heavy-hitters Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, Katherine Waterston, and Ezra Miller in the third installment of Fantastic Beasts. Currently filming, we’ll have to wait until July 15, 2022 to see how Mads Mikkelsen does in portraying the new Gellert Grindelwald.
