UNIQLO and Jil Sander Create a Modern Uniform for FW20
+J finally returns.
After UNIQLO announced that the collaboration was returning, the label has now presented its latest capsule with designer Jil Sander. The Fall/Winter 2020 collection is the latest in the +J line, which began in 2009 before a hiatus in more recent years.
Announcing the collection, Sander explained her ideas for the pieces, “I set out to define the global modern uniform with this in mind: Clothes should be long-lasting and enduring. They should serve the wearer and give her or him the energy and self-assurance which is so much needed in our global reality.”
Stand-out items in the collection include the utility-inspired outerwear and military blouson jackets, which features alongside coats constructed from cashmere blends and hybrid down. Elsewhere, tailoring has been reworked in light jackets and gabardine pants in a paper-like material, while oversized shirting comes in ivory, black or white and luxurious knitwear is produced from fine-gauge cashmere and extra fine merino wool.
Other materials used in the collection range from functional fabrics to herringbone tweed, while the pockets, zippers, stitching and contrasting lining add eye-catching details to the pieces.
