Dior's Resort 2021 Menswear Collection Is a Bouquet of Flowers

Drawing inspiration from Christian Dior’s childhood home.

Over the several seasons in which he’s directed the brand’s menswear, Kim Jones has enlisted a global collective of artists to elevate Dior’s seasonal offerings, though the Resort collections often stray from this motif. Indeed, rather than linking with another creative, the latest lineup spearheaded by Jones draws inspiration from Christian Dior’s childhood home in Les Rhumbs, yielding a pastoral selection of modern menswear.

Encompassing a bevy of classic and contemporary Dior elements, the new selection is rife with comfortable layering pieces, graphic accessories and covetable footwear. Dior’s Oblique monogram is, as usual, everywhere; splashed across sweaters, shirts, shorts, shoes and caps, it’s rendered in pale grey and Dior’s signature rich blue atop a white or grey base.

Clean tones inform much of the new collection, as Jones loosens his tailoring for elevated blazers, crisp suiting shorts and plenty of branded shirts. More casual items include Dior’s luxurious take on quilted jackets, quarter-zip shirts, basketball shorts and a host of reworked Saddle Bags. Below, footwear ranges from bit loafers to moccasin-inspired trekkers laden with that inimitable Oblique pattern.

For its proper Spring/Summer 2021 assortment, Dior recruited Amoako Boafa for illustrative graphic accents.
