UNDERCOVER Drops FW20 'Throne of Blood'-Inspired Outerwear
A nod to Kurosawa’s 1957 film.
UNDERCOVER has delivered a concise lineup of Fall/Winter 2020 outerwear. Seen in January’s show, Jun Takahashi‘s collection presented an eclectic range of garments inspired by feudal Japan — jackets printed with graphics referencing Akira Kurosawa‘s 1957 adaptation of Macbeth, Throne of Blood.
From sleek puffer jackets to long parkas, a variety of rich graphics have been emblazoned throughout, each accompanied by the film’s title Throne of Blood. One noteworthy piece is a light brown puffer jacket, printed with a faint image of Washizu Taketoki’s back, the movie’s protagonist, engulfed by a dark mist. An embroidery of a centipede appears at the hood, complemented by a black patch at the right arm. The main print is repeated over red and purple puffer jackets.
Another highlight is a gray parka that comes with a faux-fur hood. A black patch is placed at the upper left chest, juxtaposed by the collection’s motif on the right. The piece features twin waist pockets, accompanied by a small one above the left one, while a large square graphic is placed at the back. Other garments like the half-zip pullover and hooded button-up round off the concise range.
UNDERCOVER’s FW20 outerwear is currently available on the label’s website, ranging from $1,344 – $2,688 USD.
