UNDERCOVER's FW20 "FALLEN MAN" Rider Is Inspired by Samurai Armor
Taking it back to feudal Japan.
Serving as the talk of Paris Fashion Week at the start of the year, UNDERCOVER is now gearing up to release its Fall/Winter 2020 “FALLEN MAN” collection. Unexpectedly, the collection saw Jun Takahashi draw from Japanese history, more specifically feudal Japan.
A standout found in the seasonal range are the rider style jackets decorated to replicate the plating found on samurai armor, that carry a clear reference to Akira Kurosawa’s 1957 adaptation of Macbeth, Throne of Blood. Coming in brown, bordeaux, blue and ivory base color options, the outerwear style reimagines a historical style with the dramaticism of contemporary fashion.
The multicolor leather elements of the jacket are accented by thick wool knit segments marked by padded sections that replicate the plating of armor. Matching plastic hardware offers the effect of riveting while gold-tone hardware offers a regal element to the jackets. Rounding up the design of the sure to be sought after pieces is an array of rope detailing and back prints that tied to a group of fictional factions from the mind of Jun Takahashi.
Priced at ¥629,200 JPY (approximately $5,883 USD), UNDERCOVER’s FW20 “FALLEN MAN” Rider Jacket is now available on the UNDERCOVER webstore and will be available at select retailers in the coming weeks.
