Surface to Air Is Coming Back, With a Politically-Charged T-Shirt Capsule
And all proceeds will be donated to WARCHILD.
The highly influential Parisian brand and creative agency Surface to Air, which has been largely dormant for the last five years, is preparing to make a comeback. While a full collection is set to launch in late Spring of next year, the brand has released a teaser T-shirt, taking inspiration from the ongoing 2020 U.S. presidential election.
Designed by OG crew members Daniel Jackson and Nic Jones, this capsule — entitled “Phoenix Rising” — depicts the words “No Brains” above an illustration of the White House, with a bolt of lightning striking its peak.On the reverse, a short poem is printed above a specially designed Phoenix Rising logo.
Speaking to HYPEBEAST, Jones emphasised that there’s much more to come. “Phoenix Rising isn’t the rebirth of Surface to Air”, he said, “but myself and Daniel looking to, and taking inspiration from, the energy, creative ideas and DIY ethos that we and the other boys put into creating the brand back in the day.”
“It was a very special period that a lot of people look back fondly on, hopefully we can bring a little bit of it back in a new way”
Arriving in either white or black, each T-shirt is on sale now with all proceeds going to the charity WARCHILD. Retailing at £35.00 (approximately $45 USD), Phoenix Rising is available to buy now from the HIT and RUN webstore.
