Czech bus manufacturer Torsus has just released news on its most rugged bus to date. Named the Praetorian, after the imperial bodyguards of Rome, the off-road school bus can accommodate 35 passengers and is powered by a 6.9-liter, 6-cylinder diesel engine that puts out 286 horsepower and 1,150 Nm torque.
What sets this apart from typical school buses is its 400mm chassis-to-axle clearance, its 900mm wading depth, LED light bars, front locking differential, and chunky off-road tires. While there’s no official pricing for this school bus version, a similar build on Torsus’ site is priced at €170,000 EUR (approximately $199,000 USD). Head over to the Torsus website to learn more.
