Pharrell and 2 Chainz Will Join Run The Jewels' 'Holy Calamavote' Concert
The Adult Swim lineup airs October 17 in an effort to encourage voter turnout.
Run The Jewels‘ Holy Calamavote Adult Swim concert is only a few days away, slated for a livestream on Saturday, October 17 in an effort to encourage voter turnout in the upcoming 2020 U.S. Presidential Election. After being pushed back to follow coronavirus regulations after a crew member showed signs of the illness (they were later found to be COVID-19 free), Killer Mike and El-P used the time off to recruit an even more star-studded cast.
Now RTJ4 collaborators Pharrell and 2 Chainz will both be making appearances to perform “JU$T” and “Out of Sight.” The announcement comes after The Jewels revealed that Eric Andre would be acting as the event’s official Master of Ceremonies and Mavis Staples, Zack de la Rocha and Josh Homme would contribute to the program alongside Gangsta Boo, Greg Nice, DJ Cutmaster Swiff, and Cochemea Gastelum. The get-out-to-vote concert is not only a collaboration between RTJ and Adult Swim but is sponsored by Ben & Jerry’s.
“We’re proud to be a part of this initiative to encourage and enable voting and can’t wait to finally perform our album RTJ4. This will be fun,” Killer Mike said of the concert in a recent press release.
“With people marching in the streets around our country, it couldn’t be more clear that justice is on the ballot this November,” said Jabari Paul, the US Activism Manager at Ben & Jerry’s detailed. “Young people are the single largest block of voters, and if they turn out at the same rate as their parents, they have the power to hold elected officials accountable on issues like policing and public safety, climate change, education, jobs and the economy. That’s why we are proud that Run The Jewels is helping spread that word and we’re pleased to be working with Adult Swim to make this exciting night happen.”
The televised broadcast will be simultaneously streamed on AdultSwim.com and via HBO Max. Immediately after the telecast, the performance will be available to view on Adult Swim’s YouTube channel with the chance to donate to the ACLU. Watch the latest trailer above.
