Miguel Drops a Music Video for "Funeral" and Teases New Tracks
In keeping with the single, the new visual marks moodier territory for the artist.
A year after the single’s release, a music video for Miguel‘s “Funeral” has finally arrived. The 2019 track marked a long-awaited return for the artist as his first official release after a two-year absence following 2017’s War & Leisure. In keeping with the track, which charts slightly darker territory than the artist typically explores, the visual has an edgier, more menacing tone; Miguel appears in a coffin, stumbling around a car and motionless piles of dancers and even tied to what seems to be a blood-soaked mattress; strobing lights and hypnotic dance sequences recur throughout the video, complementing the track’s pulsing synth beats.
Miguel has also clarified in a statement that more tracks from a forthcoming project, originally teased last fall, will be rolling out shortly. The artist added that the upcoming tracks, as with “Funeral,” will be a departure from his earlier music.
But despite maintaining a relatively low-profile in the past few months, Miguel has still been busy — most recently thanks to an appearance in Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty Vol. 2 show. Check out the video above and anticipate more news on forthcoming tracks soon.
