Fiat 500 Electric 3+1 Debuts With Tiny, Hidden Third Door
Italy’s supermini just got a lot more fun.

Italy’s most famous small city car, the Fiat 500, hasn’t just gone fully electric for 2021 — it’s also gained a third door. Released alongside the hatchback and cabriolet in three different trim specifications, the Fiat 500 Electric 3+1 offers customers something even more unique and interesting to the already playful supermini, all while harking back to the original 1957 design.
Fiat has added a third door to the passenger side at the rear, opening up to give drivers and their passengers better access into the small car. Opening in the opposite direction — like a Rolls-Royce — the “500 aims to remain alongside customers who have changed their habits and requirements, but not their taste.”
As a result, Fiat has done a great job of hiding the third door. There is no external door handle, instead, it is accessible from the inside to give the exterior a clean finish with minimal door visibility. The new door adds just 30kg to the overall weight, which does not affect the performance or handling at all.
In terms of power, the new Fiat 500 Electric range will be available with either a 24kWh or 42kWh battery and different specs will receive different motors and fast-charging capabilities.
Take a closer look at the Fiat 500 Electric 3+1 in the gallery above, and expect all three new models to come sometime early next year. The 3+1 is to initially launch in left-hand-drive markets first, with no price stated as of yet.
In complete contrast, Brabus has tuned the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S.
