Études and NEW TENDENCY Celebrate Unity With Collaborative Meta Side Table

Parisian label Études has reunited with Berlin-based design company NEW TENDENCY for the first time since 2015. The two brands have come together to create a new Meta Side Table, inspired by the idea of unity and cooperation across international borders.
The side table comes constructed in the classic Études blue, which featured in the original collaboration and is now complemented by options in black, white and raw steel. All of the color options feature the stars of the European Union’s flag, punched into the top of the side table, chosen to represent the key themes of the collection. Announcing the project, NEW TENDENCY founder and Creative Director Manuel Goller said, “Usually we leave it at one edition per collaboration, but especially in times like these, cohesion becomes extremely important.”
To launch the project, NEW TENDENCY and Ètudes have worked with director Jonas Lindstroem to create a film that encapsulates the collections theme. Lindstroem described the film as “a declaration of Love to Europe. Each of the member states gets portrayed in the order of them joining the union. The weather in each scene a subtle nod to the weather at their joining date at these exact coordinates. In the course of an imagined day, this becomes a poetic visual metaphor for the unity of the largest peace project in the history of the world.”
