Mac DeMarco Takes a Dip Fully Clothed in Benny Sings' "Rolled Up" Visual
The Stones Throw record signee and Canadian artist deliver a relaxing tune.
Dutch musician Benny Sings, real name Tim van Berkestijn, has enlisted Mac DeMarco for a brand new single entitled “Rolled Up.”
The Stones Throw signee’s latest cut clocks in at over three minutes and was written in 2019 at the Canadian artist’s studio in Los Angeles. “The song is about being in the dumps without a particular reason,” Sings said in a statement. “Things can be pretty good, but still you feel like sh*t. Sometimes leaving it all can be a cure. We wrote this together last year in Mac’s studio. I think Mac went out to get some coffee, and he heard someone use the phrase “rolled up, tossed out,” talking about a cigarette. So that was the start of it. It felt pretty effortless, I think we both come from the same place songwriting-wise. Was a dream to work with him. A true artist.”
“Rolled Up” arrives with a visual directed by Bear Damen that sees the two artists in their respective homes, passing an egg to each other, dancing and letting the time pass as we undergo social distancing. DeMarco even jumps into his pool fully clothed at one point, almost saying that he’s just going to continue his life despite the depressing moments.
