SANKUANZ's FW20 Delivers a Mix of Edgy Tailoring & Rebellious Street Styling
Teasing an upcoming collaboration with adidas Originals.
Opting to explore the conflict and harmony between culture and ideology, designer Shangguan Zhe delivered an expansive mix of edgy tailoring and rebellious street styling with SANKUANZ‘s Fall/Winter 2020 collection.
Drawing on the label’s signature theme of protection, the range presented at Paris Fashion Week featured an array of striking shapes that conveyed a fierce allure. Incisive cutting and eye-catching accessorizing helped define the mostly black collection marked by contrasting pieces done in bright neon green.
Tailoring found in the range saw play with tight collars, exaggerated lapels, tapered waists and flared bottoms, while streetwear inspirations revisited prominent fashion of the ’90s. Elsewhere SANKUANZ displayed a deep interest in military codes and a representation of the non-conformist attitudes associated with punk attire with leather jackets marked with graffiti and extended spikes studs.
Continuing its expansion into jewelry with its signature weapon-inspired shapes, the FW20 collection features a new take on the ear-pod earrings, metallic cable necklaces, pendant earrings and more. SANKUANZ also proved a deep focus on footwear with new versions on its square-toe “Cube” sneakers and “shoe-for-shoe,” along with sneakers created in partnership with adidas Originals to help tease the upcoming collaboration with the German sportswear brand.
