Black Pumas Perform Standout Hit "Colors" on 'Fallon'
The duo is currently nominated for Best New Artist at the 2020 Grammys.
Austin-based group Black Pumas made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform “Colors,” a single off their self-titled debut album from June 2019. The duo, composed of Eric Burton and Adrian Quesada, was backed by a full instrumental band and two backup singers to perform the single.
“Colors” was originally released in April 2019 as the lead single off Black Pumas, but the accompanying music video was only released in November 2019 following the news of their Grammy nomination. The duo is currently gunning for Best New Artist, going head-to-head against Billie Eilish, Lizzo, Rosalía, Maggie Roggers, Yola, Tank and the Bangas and Lil Nas X. This marks the duo’s first nomination but Quesada’s third, following his stint with his previous band Grupo Fantasma. The Latin funk orchestra was nominated for Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album in 2008 and 2010, finally winning the award the second time.
