Following up Engineered Garments‘ jazz-inspired FW20 “Balance and Tune” lookbook, proprietor Nepenthes has returned with a brand new editorial. Set against a lucid, psychedelic backdrop, the editorial mixes a bevy of key styles from brands under the Nepenthes label, like Engineered Garments and Needles, offering a dynamic showcase of clashing patterns and well-considered layering.
Dubbed “Liquid Anthem,” the visuals highlight an assemblage of bold staples like big fur coats, fleece vests, long parkas, graphic hoodies, leopard shirts, bandanas and checkered trousers modeled by the hardcore Tokyo rock quartet Gezan. One noteworthy piece is baggy leopard overalls, constructed with twin pockets at the sides and a long central zipper — the piece is matched with a bandana, a rose-colored sweater and a pair of embroidered slides.
Another highlight is a burgundy western shirt from Needles, styled with its matching track pants, paint splatter Guille Sneakers and a fleece-lined Eskimo hat. The shirt is embellished with Needles’ butterfly logo near the shoulders, twin chest pockets and a row of cream-colored snap buttons at the center. Finishing off the fit is the matching pants accented with a thin velvet stripe that runs along the side of the legs. Other garments like patterned muffler scarves, fur coats, nylon zip-up jackets, hoodies, striped button-ups, blazers and rugged boots round up the expansive range.
