Microsoft and Ninja Theory Announce New Psychological Horror Game ‘Project: Mara’
From the creators of ‘Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.’
Microsoft has announced developer Ninja Theory is producing a new horror game called Project: Mara that is set to explore “new ways of storytelling” through “a grounded representation of mental terror.” Details on the upcoming title are scarce, however, the project is said to share similarities with Ninja Theory’s 2017 breakout game, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
For one, the title is being developed by a small team just like Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice and the game will also feature “psychological terror” as a huge part of its mechanic and gameplay design, with plans to incorporate “real lived experience accounts and in-depth research” in the development process. Although only a few seconds of footage is shown in the teaser above, we are lead to believe the final seconds of the clip reveals the game’s titular protagonist Mara. In the developer diary found below, the studio’s co-founder Tameem Antoniades said Project: Mara will feature one character in one location.
Check out the footage above and expect to hear more about the game in the coming months.
