adidas Debuts New Stycon Tennis Shoe
With a laceless upper for exemplary fit and on-court control.
adidas Tennis has introduced a new silhouette dubbed the Stycon. Featuring a laceless upper and a sock-like fit designed for top-tier fit and court control, the new-age piece of tennis footwear was designed with players of all levels in mind. It also mixes in street-ready style with its three colorways: “Grey Two/Dash Green,” “Grey Two/Purple Tint” and “Core Black/Grey Six.”
Removing the laces to bring the wearer’s foot closer to the shoe, the Stycon features an inner sock that expands and contracts with motion, providing a custom fit. Lockdown is ensured by the tightly-woven outer shell, which is also equipped with latticed synthetic rubber across the medial forefoot for increased protection and durability. This high-cut sock-like upper is somewhat reminiscent of adidas Basketball‘s N3XT L3V3L, a futuristic laceless hoop shoe that debuted in 2018.
Branding is kept simple and clean with a large Three Stripe graphic on the lateral midfoot and a small adidas logo towards the inner half of the collar. Herringbone outsoles with deep multi-direction adiWEAR tread encase a BOUNCE cushioning system and complete the look.
The adidas Stycon is available on the adidas webstore in both clay court and hard court varieties, and is priced at $140 USD.
