Take a Closer Look at Astrid Andersen's Heritage-Inspired hummel REACH LX Collab
Debuted at her London Fashion Week: Men’s FW20 runway show.
Heritage Danish sportswear label hummel and fellow Danish designer Astrid Andersen have collaborated on a new sneaker dubbed the REACH LX.
Andersen debuted the collaborative sneaker at her recent London Fashion Week: Men’s Fall/Winter 2020 runway show, implementing the vintage-inspired silhouette into a number of her core sportswear-inspired looks. The partnership brings both a sense of heritage and contemporary vision, delivering a sneaker that’s chunky and technical yet minimal and subdued.
Originally, the hummel LX was a handball shoe developed in associated with one of the world’s biggest names in the sport, Alex Dujshebaev. Here, the duo reinvents this with hummel’s all-new REACH cushioning compound in the midsoles, Ortholite inserts for maximum comfort, and reflective detailing on the lace loops and chevron mid-panel branding.
For the most part, the sneaker adopts a muted colorway that combines off white suede and leather for the toe box and eyestay, white semi-transparent mesh for the base, and black for the carved sole unit. However, towards the back, Astrid Andersen adds a pop of orange that wraps around the heel cup and onto the outsole. Rounding out the pair is a collaborative tongue tab noting the duo’s monikers.
