Jhene Aiko's "Trigger Protection Mantra" Aims to Calm Your Mind, Body & Soul
“For relaxation purposes.”
Towards the end of last month, Jhene Aiko teamed up with Saweetie and City Girls for the official remix of “My Type.” Now, four months after delivering “Triggered (Freestyle),” the popular songstress is back with her second solo effort of 2019, “Trigger Protection Mantra.” Notably, Aiko says that her latest composition was created to help relax listeners; “internationally acclaimed singer, crystal alchemy sound healer, inspirational speaker, musician and teacher” Jeralyn Glass also penned a special “message” to accompany the record and visual.
“Remember that the alchemy is just as important if not more important than the note itself,” reads part of Jeralyn Glass’ statement. “The energetic of the alchemy is what is amplified, becomes quantum and together with Jhene’s voice and her words or vowels, this is where incredible power lies.”
“Trigger Protection Mantra” is also part of a handful of standalone singles that Jhene Aiko has shared since releasing her last major studio project, 2017’s Trip.
“I hope that they take their time with it … I hope that they really, really dive into it and just immerse themselves in it,” Jhene Aiko told Billboard back in September of 2017, revealing what she hoped listeners gained from listening to her previous studio album. “It is a real trip and I feel like I definitely have a lot of fans that have been following me since I was younger who are my age now or even older and they really understand the concept of why, and they’ve been through losing someone and they’ve been through relationships that have been unpredictable and they have been through these things. And if anything, I would want those fans to just really just take in this whole map, the movie, the album and the poetry book and just be proud of how far I’ve come. Because I feel like I’ve really, with this M.A.P. [movie, album, poetry book], with this whole project I really gave my all, 150 percent.”
