Opening Ceremony Joins Skechers to Celebrate 20th Anniversary of the Energy
Popularized by Britney Spears in 1999.
Skechers has been celebrating the 20th anniversary of one of its most iconic silhouettes made famous by Britney Spears in 1999 — the Energy — and this time the California-based sneaker maker is dropping three new colorways in an exclusive collaboration with clothing brand Opening Ceremony.
The product of the two brands’ first collaboration retains the signature styling of the original Energy, with its retro panelling and chunky outsole. Two of the three colorways — the white and the black — take a monochromatic approach, whilst the third brown colorway adopts a more tonal aesthetic, featuring various shades of the color in its construction. The upper for all three options come semi-transparent, revealing the branding running down its lateral in a matching tone. The Skechers branding extends to the tongue, the heel and the pull tab, whilst an Opening Ceremony logo can be found printed on the insole.
All three colorways of the Opening Ceremony x Skechers Energy will be available exclusively over at Opening Ceremony’s retail or online store, coming with a price tag of $95 USD.
Elsewhere in sneakers, the SpongeBob x Timberland collaboration will get a wider release next month.
