Jason David Frank Stars in 'Power Rangers'-Inspired 'Legend of the White Dragon'
The original Green and White Ranger, respectively.
Production studio Bat in the Sun has released a trailer for its Power Rangers-inspired film Legend of the White Dragon, starring Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers alums Johnny Yong Bosch and Jason David Frank. The Kickstarter project showcases the two in very similar Ranger armor, despite the word “Ranger” never being used. The official plot of the film reads as such:
“In the Aftermath, the city was left decimated. A past reminder of the great battle and fall of heroes. As a result of the death and destruction, the city became known as Angel Graves. The heroes were blamed, stripped of their titles and hunted. But as evil once again threatens to return, they must rise from the ashes with the power of the White Dragon.”
Although it doesn’t tie into the Saban franchise, there are several obvious nods, like the city of Angel Graves alluding to the series’ Angel Grove setting, and of course the White Dragon armor itself, a nod toward’s Frank’s role as the Green and White Ranger.
Bosch’s costume also black, like his former Frog-based armor from the film and series. However, the Power Rangers have recently been splintering off into alternate reality stories, prominently in its comic book adaptation from Boom! Studios. There’s even a live-action adaptation trailer of one of its alternate reality stories, starring Frank reprising his role as a villainous Tommy.
