Following the release of Detective Pikachu this year, a new trailer for the upcoming Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution film has surfaced. The footage showcases the same plot from the original Mewtwo Strikes Back released 20 years ago but in a new aesthetic.

This remake will be a CGI reimagining and will use its nostalgic charm and updated visuals to enrapture an entirely new generation of fans. Two voice actors from the original film will return, Sachiko Kobayashi as Voyager (previously Miranda) and Kōichi Yamadera as Mew.

The trailer is also scored by Rita Ora, who starred in Detective Pikachu this year.

Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution releases in Japan July 12, followed by an English dub later this year.

The THUNDERBOLT PROJECT BY FRGMT & POKÉMON Mew and Mewtwo Capsule is set to release later this month as well.
