'Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution' Trailer Sees CGI Remake of 'Pokémon: The First Movie'
Following his brief appearance in this week’s ‘Detective Pikachu’ trailer.
Following the reveal in Detective Pikachu, Mewtwo aptly strikes back in the new teaser trailer for Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution, a CGI remake of Pokémon: The First Movie. For this remake/retelling, the anime aesthetic has been ditched for a more computer-generated look. Meaning not only do we get to see some Pokémon for the first time in a new art style, but our leads Ash, Misty, and Brock as well.
The debut of the film marks the 20th anniversary of the original, which came out in 1999. It’s unclear if the movie will air in international theaters like the past two Pokémon films—I Choose You and The Power of Us—however, the official Pokémon Twitter account has teased “international details [are] coming soon.”
Check out the trailer above, and catch Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution in Japan on July 12.
