Louis Vuitton has offered an insight into its Fall/Winter 2019 Virgil Abloh directed and designed menswear show. The behind-the-scenes film follows Virgil and his Louis Vuitton team six days before the show begins, and opens with Virgil saying that he is currently living in a Renaissance.
The video explores Virgil Abloh’s meticulous eye for detail. He notes the way clothes flow, how each piece’s color scheme goes well together and even shows us a truly close-up look of the LED-equipped 408 high-top sneakers.
Just two days before the show we see Virgil’s set design still in the works. He discusses the ambitious New York City street-inspired plans with the set designers and talks to Dev Hynes about how his piano and guitar performance is going to work. As the hours are counted down on screen, Louis Vuitton captures the tension and anticipation behind-the-scenes at the runway as fittings, trials and practice runs go ahead. The fast-paced video slows down as Virgil and his team prepare themselves for the runway.
